WE'RE RECRUITING ON-CALL FIREFIGHTERS ACROSS MID AND WEST WALES TO HELP RESPOND TO EMERGENCIES AND KEEP LOCAL COMMUNITIES SAFE
Become an On-Call Firefighter
Around 75% of our Fire Stations are crewed entirely by On-Call Firefighters, who play a vital role in protecting our towns, villages and rural communities.
As an On-Call Firefighter, you'll respond to a wide range of emergencies, including:
- Fires
- Road traffic collisions
- Flooding incidents
- Animal rescues
- Medical incidents
- Other rescue and special service incidents
You'll also help keep your community safe through education, prevention work and Safe and Well visits. In addition to responding to emergencies, you'll receive comprehensive training, develop valuable life skills and become part of a close-knit team.
A Role That Fits Around You
Our On-Call Firefighters come from all backgrounds and professions.
They live or work close to their local Fire Station and provide cover when they are available for duty. Whether you're self-employed, work flexible hours, are a parent or carer, or are looking for a rewarding way to give back to your community, becoming an On-Call Firefighter could be an option for you.
When an emergency call is received, Firefighters are alerted by pager and respond to the station. Many balance their role alongside other employment, family commitments or studies, with some employers supporting staff to attend emergency incidents during working hours.
As well as responding to emergencies, On-Call Firefighters play an important role in helping to keep their communities safe. They take part in training, prevention activities and community engagement, developing valuable skills while making a real difference to the lives of others.
