Wholetime Firefighter Recruitment

Coming Soon

We will soon be recruiting Wholetime Firefighters.

Our wholetime recruitment process opens on 20 JANUARY 2025.

Ready to take on the challenge?

Working for the fire and rescue service is a really respected role within the community. We rely on a team of people with a mix of skills and experience to deliver an effective frontline service and make our region safer from fire.

To be considered, you will need to:

  • demonstrate that you share our core values
  • be prepared to commit to the level of training and fitness required to meet the challenging demands of the role.

The Selection Process

The selection process ensures that we recruit the right people with the right skills and attitudes. It also assesses your fitness, physical and mental abilities, personal qualities, and resilience.

The process includes:

  • Online Registration
  • Online Questionnaire and Ability Tests
  • Physical and Practical Assessments
  • Interview and Group Discussion
  • Water Affinity Test
  • Chester Treadmill Test
  • Medical Assessment
  • Enhanced DBS Check

If you pass the final stage of the selection process, you will be offered a place on our Wholetime Firefighter Training Programme.

You don't need any previous firefighting experience, just a passion to help your community.

Do you have what it takes to join our team?

We are looking for community focussed and disciplined individuals who are committed to making Wales a safer place.

To be considered, you will need to demonstrate that you share our Vision and Behaviours and are prepared to commit to the level of training and fitness required to meet the challenging demands of the role.

Although Firefighters are trained to deal with a variety of rescue and firefighting incidents, it’s also important that they are equipped to work within our communities to reduce risk, visiting homes, schools and community groups providing safety information.

Online registration opens at 9am on Monday, January 22nd 2025.
Online registration closes at 12pm on Monday, January 27th 2025.
