Celebrating 30 Years : 1996-2026

Welcome to our dedicated page celebrating 30 years of Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service.

Since its formation in 1996, the Service has grown into one of the UK’s largest fire and rescue organisations, serving a wide and varied landscape, from rural villages and coastal towns to busy urban towns. Throughout this time, our teams have responded to thousands of emergencies, championed fire safety and prevention, and continually adapted to new challenges with professionalism and resilience.

From 1 April 2026, and throughout the rest of the year, we will be celebrating this significant anniversary. It offers an opportunity not only to reflect on the Service’s achievements, but also to recognise the people who have shaped its journey. Firefighters, control staff, support teams, and volunteers have all played a vital role in protecting our communities, often in demanding and unpredictable circumstances.

As we mark three decades of service, this anniversary stands as a testament to our commitment - and a moment to look ahead: strengthening community partnerships, embracing innovation, and continuing our mission to keep Mid and West Wales safe for generations to come.

If you have any stories, memories, or photographs from the past 30 years, we’d love to see them and share them as part of our celebrations.
