On Wednesday, 27th November 2024 Fire Fighter Melanie Beynon and Roshnara Ali Partnerships Officer from our Community Safety team were invited to speak at the Hoarding Partnership event with approximately 60 partners attending from various professions across health and adult social care who support those with hoarding behaviours.
They both had the opportunity to discuss a variety of topics including the Impact of hoarding on fire fighters when called out to an emergency, carrying out Safe and Well visits to help keep an occupier safe and referring to partner agencies for further help.
Sian Mccarthy – Occupational Therapist from the Hoarding and self-neglect champions group gave feedback to Melanie and Roshnara following the event:
“I would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude for your invaluable contribution as a guest speaker at the Hoarding Behaviours Workshop. Your insights and expertise in the field significantly enriched our discussions and provided attendees with a deeper understanding of hoarding behaviours. We recognise that preparing and presenting takes considerable time and effort, and we truly appreciate your willingness to share your knowledge with us. The feedback from participants has been overwhelmingly positive, highlighting how your presentation resonated with them and sparked meaningful conversations. Your unique perspective not only informed but also inspired many attendees, encouraging us all to think critically about the complexities surrounding hoarding behaviours. We are grateful for your commitment to this important topic and for helping us create an engaging learning environment. We hope to keep in touch and explore potential collaborations in the future. Thank you once again for being an integral part of our workshop.”
The event was a great success and presented an opportunity for further referral training from other partners in the future.
