This June, Firefighter Toby Quinnell of Pontardawe Fire Station will be taking on the incredible challenge of running 100 miles, starting from Abergavenny Fire Station.
His journey will take him through the stunning Brecon Beacons National Park where he’ll finish at Pontardawe Fire Station. He’s decided to take this on in aid of SARAID and Operation Florian. SARAID is an incredible organisation dedicated to providing vital humanitarian aid across the world.
In addition to raising funds for SARAID, he’ll also be supporting Operation Florian, a charity that works to promote the protection of life in communities in need worldwide. Since 1995, they have donated firefighting vehicles, equipment, supplies, and expertise to areas in crisis. After each donation, their teams stay with local fire crews to provide training and support, ensuring the equipment is used to its full potential.

The reason I'm doing the run is last year I raised money for some great home-grown charities, so this year I want to help those abroad. I have recently joined SARIAD which is an International USAR team who help in the aftermath of disasters around the world - as you can imagine kit is expensive! Secondly, I'm raising money for Operation Florian, they help train Fire and Rescue Services around the world - the work they do saves so many lives.

Toby is currently training each week to prepare for this challenge and is wanting to spread the word as much as possible to encourage donations to help both his chosen organisations to continue their incredible work and save lives.
We wish you all the best Toby!
