On Sunday, August 31st, a fundraising motorbike run was held in aid of the Fire Fighters Charity and to express appreciation to Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service (MAWWFRS).

Organised by Synod Inn resident Frank Evans, the motorbike run included over 100 participants and 33 bikes, covering the scenic, coastal route from Llanarth to Fishguard, crossing over to Haverfordwest before heading back over the Preseli Mountains to Aberaeron.

Mr Evans organised the event after his personal experience with MAWWFRS.  On Boxing Day 2024, the MAWWFRS crews from New Quay, Aberaeron and Llandysul Fire Stations responded to Mr Evans’s home after a fire had broken out in the property’s roof space.  Crews were faced with a developing fire, which was quickly extinguished and, therefore, was prevented from spreading to the rest of the property.

To express his appreciation to the Fire and Rescue Service for their emergency response and continued safety work within the local community, Mr Evans organised the motorbike run, which raised a fantastic £1,221 for the Fire Fighters Charity, which offers lifelong support to the mental, physical and social well-being of serving and retired Firefighters, their families and other Fire and Service Rescue personnel.
