At 7.24pm on Wednesday, July 10th, Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service crews from Swansea West, Gorseinon and Swansea Central Fire Stations were called to an incident on Dunvant Road, Swansea.
Crews responded to a fire located on the first floor and attic space of a derelict property and utilised one hose reel jet, one 13.5 metre ladder, one seven metre ladder, one short extension ladder, two breathing apparatus sets and four thermal imaging cameras to extinguish the fire.
Crews continued to dampen down hotspots after the fire had been extinguished. South Wales Police was also in attendance to assist with traffic management as one side of the road was closed during the incident.
Crews left the scene at 10.29pm.
Reducing Arson
It is believed that this fire was started deliberately.
Arson is a serious criminal offence which can potentially cause large-scale damage and even loss of life. Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service has a variety of arson reduction and fire setting prevention programmes to protect the communities it serves.
