On Thursday, 20 November, Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service held its International Men’s Day event at The Diplomat Hotel, Llanelli.
The day focused on creating space for open and honest conversations around men’s health, mental wellbeing and the importance of supporting every aspect of men’s wellbeing both within and outside of the workplace.
Our own Fitness Team, Steven and Shane, led an engaging session on health and fitness, exploring topics such as general health, hobbies, time management, and managing expectations.
We were also delighted to welcome two external speakers: International Mindset Coach Mick Stott and award-winning explorer and speaker Charlie Walker.
Mick brought decades of experience from the armed forces and elite performance coaching. His workshop featured an open discussion and Q&A exploring mental health, trauma and suicide prevention, offering practical tools to build resilience.
In the afternoon, Charlie took to the stage to share powerful stories from his global expeditions. His talk highlighted the challenges he faced with his own mental health and offered valuable insight into seeking support and overcoming adversity.
The event was a success, providing a meaningful opportunity for colleagues to engage in open discussion, reflect on shared experiences and reinforce the importance of supporting men’s wellbeing across the service.
A big thank you to our guest speakers for their inspiring contributions, and to The Diplomat Hotel for kindly hosting the event.
