Long Service and Good Conduct Award Celebrations

On the evening of Thursday, 20th February 2025, Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service (MAWWFRS) held their Long Service and Good Conduct Award Ceremony at The Plough, Rhosmaen for Service Personnel, in recognition of 20, 30 or 40-years in Service.

On the evening of Thursday, 20th February 2025, Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service (MAWWFRS) held their Long Service and Good Conduct Award Ceremony at The Plough, Rhosmaen for Service Personnel, in recognition of 20, 30 or 40-years in Service.

The awards were presented by Chief Fire Officer Roger Thomas KFSM and His Majesty’s, Deputy Lieutenant of Dyfed, Mr Rowland Rees-Evans. Additional guests included Deputy Lieutenant Ceri Havard of Powys, Vice Lord Lieutenant Mr Martin Trainer of West Glamorgan, and Deputy Chair of MAWW Fire Authority Councillor John Davies.

The evenings awards were divided into groups - Northern Division, Southern Division, Western Division and Headquarters Service personnel. Everyone was welcomed to stage individually to receive their award, along with a framed certificate of their achievement:

Northern Division

Group Manager Stephen Rowlands, Head of Northern Division welcomed members of his Division to the stage in turn to receive their award and certificate. First to be presented were Watch Managers Stephen Daniel and Mark Hughes both receiving their 40-year award. Followed by On-Call Firefighter Jason Hockenhull who received his 30-year award. Deputy Divisional Commander David Latham, Watch Managers Tomos Boyle, Liam Hinton-Jones and Aled Morgan Crew Managers Marty Jones, Meilyr Hughes, Glenn Lewis and Firefighter Glyn Jones all received their 20-year award.














Southern Division

Group Manager David Morgans, Head of Southern Division welcomed members of his Division to the stage, in turn to receive their award and certificate. First to be presented and to receive his 30-year award and was Firefighter Michael Edwards. Followed by Watch Managers Spencer Francis, Andrew Vaughan and Andrew Parker, Crew Managers Jonathan Williams, Lyn Rees and Richard Jones who all received their 20-year award.










Western Division

Group Manager Andrew Davies, Head of Western Division welcomed members of his Division to the stage, in turn to receive their award and certificate with Firefighter William Adrian Windsor being first to receive his 30-year award. Watch Managers Lee Hopkins, Daniel Ward, Firefighter Elizabeth Morris and Firefighters Gavin Thomas and Stephen Jones all received their 20-year award.









Andrew remained on stage to welcome Headquarters Service staff. First to collect his award for 30 years in Service was Corporate Head of Emergency Response Justin Lewis, followed by Corporate Head of Organisational Risk Sean Lloyd, Station Manager Jason Woodman Deputy Head of Operational Procedures and Learning, Station Manager Beverley Woodman from Joint Fire Control and Watch Manager Eifion Rees.

Last but in no means least Watch Manager Abigail Hampton of Operational Equipment and Assurance, Station Manager Mark Snell of Operational Procedures and Learning, Station Manager Daniel Bartley and Station Manager Andrew Morgan Deputy Head of People Development all received their 20-year award, bringing the evening to a close.












Chief Fire Officer Roger Thomas said:

“The evening is about celebration and a chance to acknowledge the incredible dedication from Service colleagues for all their hard work and years of commitment to reach their milestone of 20, 30 and 40-years’ in Service. It was a privilege to welcome dignitaries, colleagues and their families to the awards this year. I would like to thank all that contributed to making the ceremony the success that it was, with special thanks to the Plough, Rhosmaen for a spectacular venue.”



The evening was a special opportunity to celebrate Long Service and Good Conduct achievements from Service personnel. Showing appreciation, loyalty and recognition to the remarkable efforts, hard work and dedication to the Fire Service throughout the years. Congratulations to all.
