Safeguarding Week is an annual national campaign, centring on all avenues of support available to safeguarding people, our communities and workforce.
As a core member of the regional safeguarding board along with our partner agencies, we work in a collaborative way to prevent harm through early intervention and offering our services.
Within Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service, we have an internal safeguarding board with centres on the governance of the service to meet legal and moral obligations of safeguarding the communities we serve and our workforce. The internal board is made up of professionals including subject lead and, executive leadership team and heads of departments.
Chair of the Safeguarding Board, Assistant Chief Officer Mydrian Harries said:
“The Safeguarding Board was established in July 2023 and its purpose is to ensure all the Service’s safeguarding requirements and duties are discharged within existing legislation, National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC) / Fire Standards Board Safeguarding Standards and internal policy, process and practice. The Board’s focus for the coming year will include matters such as staff training and awareness, bench marking our arrangements against national standards as well as supporting the refresh of all our staff’s Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks, all of which will contribute to the high safeguarding standards we set ourselves.”
