On Saturday, July 6th, the latest group of Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service’s Wholetime Recruits took part in a charity bike ride at the Wales Airshow in Swansea Bay.
Taking on a different kind of challenge, a team of 10 squad members cycled a combined distance of 500km on spin bikes – and each one of them dressed in full firefighting kit!
The team had been busy training and preparing between their intensive training sessions to become the Service’s newest Wholetime Firefighters, and they took on the challenge to raise important funds for The Fire Fighters Charity - which provides specialist lifelong support which provides specialist lifelong support for serving and retired members of the UK’s fire services community, and their families.
The event was also an opportunity for the Service's Community Safety Team to share a variety of fire and safety advice and information.
During the day, the team raised over £565 between cash donations and their JustGiving page. Their JustGiving page is accepting donations until Monday, July 15th, and any amount will be greatly appreciated.
Well done Squad 02/24!
