On Sunday, September 28th, Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service Firefighters from Llandysul, Newcastle Emlyn and Llandeilo Fire Stations, alongside Blue Watch Control Firefighters from the Joint Fire Control Centre, took part in a water training exercise along the River Teifi in Llandysul.
The training session took part along several sections of the River Teifi and simulated four casualties in need of rescue in a variety of scenarios. These scenarios were designed to reflect realistic challenges, including confined access areas and dynamic water conditions, requiring crews to apply critical thinking, adaptability and coordinated response strategies.
Speaking of the training exercise, Watch Manager Iwan Jones said:
"Exercises like this are vital in ensuring our crews are prepared for the complexities of real-life water rescues. The River Teifi presents unique challenges, and this training allows us to refine our techniques and strengthen the collaboration between Fire Stations."
Such exercises are essential in maintaining operational readiness and ensuring that Firefighters are equipped with the skills necessary to respond effectively to water-related emergencies and to keep the communities of Mid and West Wales safe.
