Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service is inviting members of the public to enjoy a fun-filled family day out at Carmarthen Fire Station's Open Day on Friday, 28 August 2026.

The event, which celebrates the Fire and Rescue Service's 30th anniversary, will take place at Carmarthen Fire Station, Lime Grove Avenue, Carmarthen, SA31 1SP, from 10.30am until 4pm.

The free community event will offer visitors the opportunity to meet firefighters, learn more about the work of the Service and enjoy a range of family-friendly activities throughout the day.

There will be:

  • Live firefighting demonstrations
  • Children's activities
  • Firefighter fitness tests
  • Refreshments
  • Operational displays
  • A raffle
  • Opportunities to meet firefighters and support staff

Visitors will also have the chance to meet Sbarc, the Service's much-loved mascot.

As well as providing an enjoyable day for families, the event will raise money for the Fire Fighters Charity, which supports serving and retired members of the UK fire and rescue community and their families.

Chief Fire Officer, Craig Flannery, said:

"Our Open Day is a fantastic opportunity for people to come along, meet their local firefighters and learn more about the important work carried out by Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service. "There will be plenty to see and do for all ages, from live demonstrations and activities to the chance to get up close to our fire appliances and equipment. "As we celebrate 30 years of Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service, we look forward to welcoming members of the community to Carmarthen Fire Station and Service Headquarters for what promises to be a great day out."
