Incident: Barn Fire in Eglwyswrw

At 8.25am on Thursday, July 11th, Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service crews from Crymych, Cardigan and Milford Haven Fire Stations were called to an incident in Eglwyswrw.

At 8.25am on Thursday, July 11th, Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service (MAWWFRS) crews from Crymych, Cardigan and Milford Haven Fire Stations were called to an incident in Eglwyswrw.

Crews responded to one private motor vehicle and one barn measuring approximately 10m x 5m that were well alight.  Crews utilised three breathing apparatus sets, two hose reel jets, one thermal imaging camera, one reciprocating saw and one ceiling hook to extinguish the fire.  Crews continued to extinguish hot spots after the fire was extinguished.

The cause of the fire was accidental.  Crews left the scene at 11.11am.

Crymych, Cardigan and Milford Haven* are On-Call Fire Stations, which means their firefighters get notified of an emergency call via a personal pager, which they carry with them when they are on duty.

Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service is currently recruiting On-Call Firefighters at all our On-Call Fire Stations.

The role of an On-Call Firefighter provides many opportunities for personal and professional development, through training, teamwork, leadership and problem solving.  On-Call Firefighters receive payment for their services, including retainer fees and call-out payments, supplementing their income from other employment.
