Incident: Fire at Mumbles Pier

At 3.51am on Saturday, August 17th, Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service crews from Swansea West, Swansea Central, Morriston, Gorseinon, Pontarddulais and Port Talbot Fire Stations were called to an incident at Mumbles Pier.

At 3.51am on Saturday, August 17th, Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service crews from Swansea West, Swansea Central, Morriston, Gorseinon, Pontarddulais and Port Talbot Fire Stations were called to an incident at Mumbles Pier.

Crews responded to a fire within a single-storey building measuring approximately 20m x 20m used as an amusement arcade.  The fire was located in the roof space on the western side of the building, significant heat and smoke damage was caused to large parts of the building.

Crews utilised 12 breathing apparatus sets, two hose reel jets, one 45mm safety jet, one thermal imaging camera, one hydrant and lighting to extinguish the fire.  Re-inspections of the property later that morning found no notable hotspots.

A Fire Investigation has concluded that the fire was caused accidentally.
