Firefighters from Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service (MAWWFRS) have recently successfully completed an intensive Water Rescue Boat Operator Course at the Menai Strait in North Wales.
The week-long programme provided participating crews with advanced, practical training in key operational skills, including boat handling, navigation in swift water, casualty recovery techniques and critical decision-making in high-pressure marine environments.
Renowned for its powerful tides, fast currents, narrow channels and unpredictable conditions, the Menai Strait provided an ideal, real-world training ground for the course. As a result of the training, MAWWFRS has further strengthened its operational capability, ensuring Firefighters are better prepared to respond effectively and safely to water-related emergencies across Mid and West Wales.
