On Monday, October 26th, Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service (MAWWFRS) proudly celebrated the achievements of eight new On-Call Firefighters at a Passout Parade held at Newtown Fire Station.

The parade marked a culmination of weeks of intensive training and dedication, as the recruits successfully completed their initial training course and took an important step towards serving and protecting their local communities.

Family, friends and colleagues came together to watch a series of drill yard demonstrations, showcasing the skills and knowledge the recruits have developed throughout their training.  The displays provided an insight in the challenges Firefighters face and the high standards required to become operational Firefighters.

During the course, the recruits received training in a wide range of essential firefighting and emergency response skills, including firefighting techniques, equipment deployment, trauma and casualty care, and responding to road traffic collisions.  These skills will help prepare them to respond safely and effectively to a variety of incidents across Mid and West Wales.

Following the demonstrations, certificates were presented to each recruit by MAWWFRS Assistant Chief Fire Officer, Sean Lloyd, in recognition of their successful completion of the course.

The Passout Parade represents a significant milestone in every firefighter's journey.  As they join their respective Fire Stations across the Service area, they will play a vital role in responding to emergencies, supporting community safety initiatives and helping to protect the communities they live and work in.

The event was an opportunity to celebrate not only the successful completion of the course, but also the commitment, resilience and determination shown by each recruit throughout their training.

Everyone at MAWWFRS would like to congratulate the new On-Call Firefighters on this outstanding achievement and wish them every success as they begin their operational careers.

Congratulations and welcome to the Service.
