At 6.36pm on Tuesday, September 10th, the Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service crew from Haverfordwest Fire Station was called to an incident in Withybush Woods in Haverfordwest.
Crew members responded after Doby, a two-year-old dog, ran away from his owner while on a walk in the woods. Doby reached a boggy patch in the woods and after initially beginning to sink, managed to get out on the other side but would then not come back across the bog to his owner. Doby’s owner attempted to retrieve him, but sank deeply into the bog and climbed back out.
With no other access points available to reach Doby other than crossing the bog, crew members donned wading gear and waded through the bog to reach Doby and bring back to safety. After safely reuniting Doby with his owner, the crew was able to leave the scene at 8.06pm.
