On Friday 15th November, Firefighter Lee Simmons, Western Division Education Officer at Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service (MAWWFRS) won the Tenby Observer Blue Light Kindness Award.
The award ceremony, held at the De Valence Pavilion in Tenby, celebrated unsung local heroes across a variety of award categories. Lee's accolade recognised his unwavering dedication to the community, both through his role with the MAWWFRS Community Fire Safety team and as an On-Call Firefighter at Tenby Fire Station
Reflecting on the recognition, Lee said:
“I received a phone call from the Tenby Observer, inviting me to attend a local Community Awards evening at the De Valence Pavilion in Tenby, coinciding with International Kindness Day. They explained the event was an opportunity to show gratitude and thank community members for their acts of kindness. To my surprise, I was not only nominated in the Blue Light Kindness category, but I also won and was presented with this award! I felt incredibly honoured, shocked, and very proud.”
The entire MAWWFRS team extends their heartfelt congratulations to Lee on this well-deserved recognition of his remarkable contributions to the community.
